The lenght of a minute hand of a clock is 14 cm.What will be the area covered by the minute hand in one minutes?

It takes 1 hour for the minutes hand to cover 360°

1 hour is equal to 60 minutes

Therefore, the angle swept in one minute will be

 \frac{360°}{60 }  = 6°

we need the area of the sector

which is given by

 \frac{theta}{360°}\pi   {r}^{2}  =  \frac{6°}{360°}  \times \pi {14}^{2}

=10.26 cm²
