Given: the length of the rectangle is 20m more than its width. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 100m.

To find: breath of rectangle

Solution:

let the Width be x metres

length= 20+x

perimeter= 2(l+b)

100 = 2(x+x+20)

50 = 20+2x

50/2= 10+x

25= 10+ x

x= 25-10= 15 metres

length = 20+15= 35 metres

The length of the rectangle = 35 metres and the width of the rectangle is 15 metres.

Given that:

Lenth of the rectangle= 20m + width

Perimeter of the rectangle= 100m

To find:

Length L and Width W/breadth B

Solution:

We can find the lenth and width/breadth of the rectangle by using the simple formula of perimeter of rectangle i.e. 2(length+breadth)

let the width of the rectangle be X

given that the length is 20m more than the width hence L = X + 20

now perimeter P = 2x(Length + Breadth)

= 2 x ( X + 20 + X)

= 2 x (2X + 20)

= 4X + 80

now perimeter is 100 metres

=> 100 = 4X + 80

=> 20 = 4X

=> X = 5m

We get breadth by,

Equation for Lenth of the rectangle =

4X + 80m(metre)

Where breadth = 5m (metre)

We get the value of length of rectangle by putting the value of breadth=5m

Length=20+X

=20+5

=25 m(metre)

Therefore the lenth and breadth of the rectangle with perimeter 100m is 25m and 5m respectively.
