16m 17cm = 1617 cm
22m and 77 cm = 2277 cm
1617 = 3 × 7 × 7 × 11
2277 = 3 × 3 × 11 × 23
so, H.C.F of 1617 cm and 2277 cm = 33 cm
so, maximum length of the rope = 33 cm

Solution

Given

Length of a field =16m17cm=1617cm

Breadth of a field=22m77cm=2277cm

Now,

Using Euclid's division algorithm, we get,

2277=1617x1+660

1617=660x2+297

660=297x2+66

297=66x4+33

66=33x2+0

Since, the remainder is zero, we cannot divide any further.

Therefore, maximum length of the Rope which can measure the dimensions of the field in exact number of times=33cm

Hope it helps you ☺
