Consider a triangle made of two adjacent sides and the diagonal across their ends. It is right-angled, with sides 6 cm, x cm (say), and 10 cm .

So x^2 + 6^2 = 10^2 .

These are in the ratio of 3: 4: 5 .

So the other side is 8 cm .

So the area is 6 * 8 cm^2 = 48 cm^2 .
