The length and breadth of a rectangle are 50 cm and 40 cm respectively. If each side is increased
by 10 cm, then find the % increase in the perimeter.

Given,

length(1) = 50cm  breadth(1) = 40cm

perimeter = 2 ( length + breadth)

perimeter(1) = 2 ( 50 + 40) = 2*90 =180cm

now acc. to question increase both length and breadth by 10 cm

So,

length(2) = 50+10cm  breadth(2) = 40+10cm

perimeter = 2 [ (50+10) + (40+10)] = 2(60+50)

perimeter(2) = 2*110 = 220cm

% increase = [perimeter(2) - perimeter(1)]/perimeter (1)  *100

% increase = (220 - 180)/180 * 100

                  = 40/180 * 100 = 0.222 *100

                  =  22.2% ( answer)
