The length and breadth of a rectangular garden are 15m and 12m respectively. Find the total cost of making a path 1.5m wide surrounding the garden inside it at the rate of Rs. 22.25 per sq m

Firstly, Area of ABCD = length × breadth

= 15m × 12m

= 180m^2

PQ = RS = 15m - (1.5m + 1.5m)

= 15m - 3m

= 12m

PS = QR = 12m - (1.5m +1.5m)

= 12m - 3m

= 9m

Area of PQRS = PQ × QR

= 12m × 9m

= 108m^2

Area of the path = 180m^2 - 108m^2

= 72m^2

Rate of surrounding the garden = 72 × 22.25

= 1602 rupees
