The length and breadth of a rectangular graden is in the ratio 4 :3.If the area is 7500m^2,find the cost of fencing the garden at the rate of rupees6 per metre

SOLUTION

Area =L×b
L=4y. L=4(5)
b=3y =20
Area =4y×3y
7500=12y^2. b=3(5)
y^2=625. =15
= 5^2
y=5
perimeter=2(L+b)
= 2(20+15)
=2(35)
=70m
Cost=70(6)
=420
COST = $420

Let the length and breadth of a rectangular garden is 4x and 3x

Area = length x breadth
7500 = 4x \times 3x \\ 7500 = 12x {}^{2}  \\ x {}^{2}  =  \frac{7500}{12}  \\ x {}^{2}  =  625 \\ x =  \sqrt{625}  \\ x = 25 \\ so \: length \:  = 4 \times 25 = 100m \\ breadth \:  = 3 \times 25 = 75m
Now
Perimeter of rectangular garden is=
 = 2(l + b) \\  = 2(100 + 75) \\  = 2 \times 175 \\  = 350m
Fencing rate is Rs 6 per m

Cost of fencing the garden is
 = 6 \times 350 \\  = 2100 \: rupees
