the length and breadth of a rectangular metal sheet are in the ratio of 7:5. Four 3 cm×3 cm squares have been seperated from the corners of the rectangle and it has been moulded into a cuboid of 96 cm³ of volume. Find the area of the rectangular metal sheet taken in the beginning.

l & b of remaining moulded sheet

= 7x -(3+3) = 7x -6 & b = 5x -(3+3) = 5x-6

volume =96after moulding it into cuboid(6sides) then it's height will be

=height of each square faces cut out=3cm

volume of remaining moulding sheet= 96

(7x- 6)×(5x-6) × 3 = 96 => x = 2

so area of the metal sheet in the beginning was = 7x×5x = 35x^2

= 35(2^2) = 140 cm^2
