\sf\underline{Step-by-step \: explanation}

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(l + b)

Let the numbers be 7x and 3x

Perimeter of the rectangle = 400 m

According to the question...

2(l + b) = 400 m

2(7x + 3x) = 400 m

2(10x) = 400 m

20x = 400 m

x = \dfrac{400}{20}

\sf{After \: cancellation...}

x = 20 m

Length = 7x = 7 × 20 = 140 m

Breadth = 3x = 3 × 20 = 60 m

Verification...

2(l + b) = 400

2( 140 + 60) = 400

2 × 200 = 400 m.

Hence,

Length = 140 m

Breadth = 60 m.

Area = l × b

Area = 140 × 60

Area = 8400 square meters

Required answer : 8400 square meters.
