The length and breadth of a rectangular piece of land are in the ratio 5:3.If the total cost of fencing it at Rs.24 per metre is Rs.9600,find its length and breadth.

let the common multiple be x .

length = 3x and breadth =5x

The cost of fencing at ₹24per metre
is ₹9600

Cost of fencing = Perimeter × rate
9600 = perimeter × 24
Perimeter = 9600/24
Perimeter = 400m

Now,
We know that,
Perimeter of rectangle =2(L+B)

400 = 2(5x  + 3x)
400 = 2(8x)
400 = 16x
16x = 400
x =  \frac{400}{16}
x = 25

Length = 5x =5(25) = 125m
Breadth =3x =3(25)=75m.

Therefore,
The length & breadth of the rectangular piece of land are 125m and 75m.

then,length=5x cm.
breadth=3x
So, area of rectangle=l×b=5x × 3x=15x^2
Now,Total cost of fencing it =Rs 24= 15x^2 =Rs 9600
=} x^2=9600/15
=} x^2=640
=}x=√640
so, l=5×√640
b=3×√640
ans.
