The length and breadth of a room is 9.8 m and 7.5 m respectively. A carpet, square in shape of 4 m size is laid on the floor of the room. Find the area of the room which is uncarpeted

area if the room is length × breadth

=9.8×7.5 sq m

=73.5sq m

area if the square shaped carpet is

side×side

=4×4sq m

=16sq m

so area of the room which is uncarpeted is

(73.5-16)sq m

=57.5sq m
