here \: is \: your \: answer \\ area \: of \: rectangle \: is \: l \times b \\ now \: length \: given \: 7cm \: and \: breadth \: given \: is \: (x - 8) \\ now \:  \\ ( x - 8) \:  \times 7 =  42{cm}^{2}  \\  = 7x - 56 = 42 {cm}^{2}  \\  = 7x = 42 + 56 \\  = 7x = 98 \\  = x =  \frac{98}{7}  \\  = x = 14 \\ hence \: the \: value \: of \: x \: is \: 14 \\ hope \: it \: helped \\ plz \: mark \: as \: brianliest \\  \\  \\  \\ stay \: home \: stay \: safe

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation: Given :

Length = 7cm and Breadth = (x-8) cm

Area of a triangle = Length × Breadth

42 = 7(x-8)

x-8 = 6

x = 14
