Hii friend,

Length of rectangle = 8 cm

Breadth of rectangle = 6cm

Diagonal of the rectangle = ✓(L)² + (B)² = ✓(8)² + (6)² = ✓64+36 = ✓100 = 10 cm.

Hence,

Length of diagonal is 10 cm.

Given: The length and breadth of a rectangle are 8 cm and 6 cm respectively.

To find: The length of the diagonal

Solution: The diagonal of a rectangle is a line segment which joins any two opposite corners of the rectangle.

In a rectangle, since each angle is 90°, any two adjacent sides (length and width) and the corresponding diagonal can form a right angled triangle.

In this right angled triangle, the length acts as the base, width acts as the perpendicular side and diagonal acts as the hypotenuse of the triangle. The length of the hypotenuse can be found using Pythagoras' theorem.

Here, length (l) = 8 cm and width(w) = 6 cm

For finding the diagonal (d), Pythagoras' theorem is used which is given by the formula:

 {d}^{2}  =  {l}^{2}  +  {w}^{2}

 =  >  {d}^{2}  =  {8}^{2}  +  {6}^{2}

 =  >  {d}^{2}  = 64 + 36

 =  >  {d}^{2}  = 100

 =  > d =  \sqrt{100}

 =  > d = 10

Therefore, the length of the diagonal of the rectangle is 10 cm.
