Answer:

Ratio = 3 : 5

Perimeter = 48 cm

Let the ratios be 3x and 5x

Let length be 5x

Let breadth be 3x

we know,

perimeter = 2 ( length + breadth)

48 = 2 ( 5x + 3x )

48 = 2 ( 8x )

48 = 16x

or, 16x = 48

Therefore,

x = 48 / 16

x = 3

Length = 5x

= 5 * 3

= 15 ( ans )

Breadth = 3x

= 3 * 3

= 9 ( ans )

Given:

The length and width of the rectangle is in the ratio 3 : 5

The perimeter is 48 cm

To find:

The length and width of rectangle.

Solution:

The length and width of the rectangle is in the ratio 3 : 5

Therefore,

Length = 3x

Width = 5x

The perimeter of rectangle is 48 cm

Perimeter of rectangle = 2 ( l + w )

48 = 2 ( 3x + 5x )

48 = 2 ( 8x )

48 = 16x

x = \frac{48}{16}

x = 3

Length = 3x

Length = 3(3)

Length = 9 cm

Width = 5x

Width = 5(3)

Width = 15 cm

Final answer:

The length and width of rectangle is 9 cm and 15 cm respectively.
