The length, breadth and height of a box are 80cm, 48cm and 24cm respectively. Find the surface area to be painted on all sides except the base.

area except base = 2(lb+bh+hl)-lb
= 2(80*48+48*24+24*80)-80*48= 13824-3840=9984 cm2
