The length, breadth and height of a metalic parallelopiped is 16 cm,
11 cm and 10 cm respectively. It was melted and cast into discs. The
diameter and thickness of each disc was 4 cm and 0.2 cm respectively.
What was the number of discs formed ? =

Number of disc formed is 700.

Step-by-step explanation:

  •   Given data

           Dimension of parallelogram

           Length (L)= 16 cm

           Breadth (B)= 11 cm

           Height (H)= 10 cm

  •   Dimension of disc

          Diameter (D)= 4 cm

          So radius (R) = 2 cm

          Thickness (t) = 0.2 cm

  •   Volume of parallelogram (V) = L×B×H
  •   \mathbf{\textrm{Volume of one disc} \ (v_{d})=\pi R^{2}\times t}

          Let number of disc formed = N

           So

          \mathbf{\textrm{Volume of N disc} \ (v_{d})=N\times \pi R^{2}\times t}

  •   Here volume of material is constant, means

          Volume of N disc = Volume of parallelogram

          \mathbf{N\times \pi R^{2}\times t=L\times B\times H}

          \mathbf{N\times \frac{22}{7}\times 2^{2}\times 0.2=16\times 11\times 10}

          \mathbf{N\times \frac{22}{7}\times  2\times  \frac{2}{10}=16\times 11\times 10}

          \mathbf{N=\frac{16\times 11\times 10\times 7\times 10}{22\times 2\times 2\times 2}}

          \mathbf{N=\frac{2\times 11\times 10\times 7\times 10}{22}}

          \mathbf{N=10\times 7\times 10}

          \mathbf{N=700}
