Dear Student,

◆ Answer -

Longest length of tape = 3 m

● Explanation -

Assuming it's non-bendable tape, length of longest tape should be highest common factor of all dimensions.

Highest common factor is calculated as -

12 = 3 × 2 × 2

15 = 3 × 5

18 = 3 × 3 × 2

HCF = 3

Therefore, longest length of non-bendable tape should be 3 m.

Best luck dear...

\displaystyle\huge\red{\underline{\underline{Solution}}}

GIVEN

The length, breadth and height of a room are 12m, 15m and 18m respectively

TO DETERMINE

The longest tape which can measure all the three dimensions of the room exactly

CALCULATION

The longest tape which can measure all the three dimensions of the room exactly then the length of the tape will divide each of the length, breadth and height of the room

So the length of the required tape is HCF of the length, breadth and height of the room

Now The length, breadth and height of a room are 12m, 15m and 18m respectively

 \sf{12 =2 \times 2 \times 3  \:  \: }

 \sf{15 = 3 \times 5 \: }

 \sf{ 18 = 2 \times 3 \times 3\:  \: }

 \sf{So \:  \:  HCF \:  \:  = 3}

RESULT

The longest tape which can measure all the three dimensions of the room exactly is 3 m
