GivEn:-

  • The length, breadth and height of a room is 10 m, 8 m, 2.5 m respectively.
  • The cost of painting is at a rate of Rs. 15/m².

To Find:-

  • The total surface area of room
  • The cost of painting four side walls and ceiling.

Solution:-

The formula of total area of four walls of a room,

 \boxed{ \pink{ \sf{A = 2h(l + b)}}}

  • A = Total surface area of four walls
  • h = height of the room
  • l = length of the room
  • b = breadth of the room

Now, putting the values in the formula we get,

 \implies \sf \: A = 2 \times 2.5(10 + 8)

\implies \sf \: A = 5 \times 18

\implies \sf \: A = 90

To find the area of ceiling, we will use the following formula :

 \boxed{ \pink{ \sf{A= l \times b}}}

Now, putting the values,

 \implies \sf \: A = 10 \times 8

 \implies \sf \: A = 80

Total area of the four walls and the ceiling of the room is = ( 90 + 80 ) = 170 m²

▪ It requires Rs. 15/m² for painting,

Therefore, the total cost required

 \implies \sf \: 170 \times 15

 \implies  \sf \: 2550
