the length, breadth and height of a solid metallic block are 2.25m,1.8m and 27cm respectively. it is melted and recast into 12 solid smaller cubes. find the size of such smaller cubes.

TSA of block=2(lb+bh+hl)
=2(2.25×1.8+1.8×0.27+0.27×2.25)
=2(4.05+0.486+0.6075)
=2×5.1435
=10.287m²


it's melted into 12 small cubes i.e.its tsa is divided by 12
=10.287/12
=0.85725m²(TSA of 1 cube)


edge of cube=?

t s area of cube=6a²
0.85725=6a²
0.85725/6=a²
0.142875=a²
a=√0.142875
a=0.3779881m


edge of smaller cubes will be 0.3779881 m i.e
37.79881cm
