The fall in water level in the tank was 1000m.

First we need to convert the volume in litre to m³

As, 1 litre = 0.001 m³

So, 4200 litres = 4.2 m³

As,

Volume of tank = Length x Breadth x height

= 0.07 × 0.06 × 0.02                  [Converting cm to m, as 1cm = 0.01m]

= 8.4×10⁻⁵ m³

Let us consider the height to be 'h'.

Length = 0.07m and Breadth = 0.06m, and volume of water pumped out was 4.2m³. So,

4.2 =  0.07 × 0.06 × h

⇒ h = 1000m

This is the height by which water falls.
