Explanation:

Given The length breadth and thickness of a block is measured to be 50 cm 2.0 cm and 1.00 cm . What is the percentage error in the measurement of volume? (A) 8% (B) 0.8% (C) 10% (D) 12.5%

  • Given length, breadth and thickness of the block measured as 50 cm, 2.0 cm and 1.00 cm. We need to calculate percentage error.
  • So we have Δl / l = 1/50
  •                              = 1/ 50 x 100
  •                            = 2%
  • Also Δb / b = 0.1 / 2 (least count is 0.1)
  •                  = 1 / 20 x 100
  •               = 5%
  • Also Δt / t = 0.01 / 1
  •                  = 1 / 100 x 100
  •                  = 1%

Now total percentage error = 2% + 5% + 1% = 8%
