The length ,breadth and thickness of a block of metal were measured with the help of vernier callipers. The measurements are: l = (5.250 ± 0.001) cm, b = (3.450 ± . 0. 001)cm t = (1.740 ± 0.001) cm. Find the percentage error in volume of the block

Hii there,

◆ Answer -

Percentage error in volume = 0.1055 %

● Explaination -

Let l, b & h be length breadth and height of metal block and ∆l, ∆b & ∆h be respective errors.

Volume of the metal block will be calculated as -

V = l × b × h

Now, relative error in calculation of volume will be -

∆V/V = ∆l/l + ∆b/b + ∆h/h

∆V/V = 0.001/5.250 + 0.001/3.450 + 0.001/1.740

∆V/V = 0.001 (1/5.25 + 1/3.45 + 1/1.74)

∆V/V = 0.001 × 1.055

Percentage error in volume measurement will be -

∆V/V % = 0.001 × 1.055 × 100 %

∆V/V % = 0.1055 %

Hope this helped you. Thanks for asking...
