the length breadth and thickness of a rectangular sheet of metal are 4.658m , 1.356m and 2.04 cm respectively. Give the area and volume of the sheet to correct significant no.

  • Length(l) of rectangular sheet = 4.658 m
  • Breadth(b) of rectangular sheet = 1.356 m
  • Thickness (Height)(h) of rectangular sheet = 2.04 cm

TO FIND:

  • What is the T.S.A. and Volume of the sheet ?

SOLUTION:

We have given that, the length breadth and thickness of a rectangular sheet of metal are 4.658m , 1.356m and 2.04 cm respectively

Convert the height into metre:-

\bf{\dashrightarrow 1 \: cm = \dfrac{1}{100} \: m }

\bf{\dashrightarrow 2.04 \: cm = \dfrac{2.04}{100} \: m }

\bf{\dashrightarrow 2.04 \: cm = 0.0204 \: m }

We know that the formula for finding the T.S.A. of the rectangular sheet is:-

\large\bf{\star \: T.S.A. = 2(lb + bh + hl) \: \star}

According to question:-

\rm{\dashrightarrow T.S.A = 2(4.658 \times 1.356 + 1.356 \times 0.0204 + 0.0204 \times 4.658)}

\rm{\dashrightarrow T.S.A. =  2(6.316248 + 0.0276624 + 0.0950232) }

\rm{\dashrightarrow T.S.A. = 2(6.4389336) }

\rm{\dashrightarrow  T.S.A = 12.8778672 \: m^2 }

\bf{\dashrightarrow  T.S.A = 12.88 \: m^2 \: (approx)}

The Total surface area of the rectangular sheet is 12.88 (approx)

To find the volume of the rectangular sheet, we use the formula:-

\large\bf{\star \: Volume = L \times B \times  H \: \star}

According to question:-

\rm{\dashrightarrow Volume = 4.658 \times 1.356 \times 0.0204}

\rm{\dashrightarrow Volume = 0.1288514592 \: m^3}

\bf{\dashrightarrow Volume = 0.129 \: m^3\: (approx)}

The Volume of the rectangular sheet is 0.129 (approx)
