Answer:

8m by 4m

Step-by-step explanation:

let the width be x

let the length be x+2 ( length is 2 more than its width)

perimeter = 20m ( given)

perimeter of rectangle = 2(l+b)

20 = 2 (x+2+x)

20 = 2 (2x+2)

20/2 = 2x+2

10 = 2x+2

10-2 = 2x

8 = 2x

8/2 = x

4 = x

hence the width be 4m

AND

the length be 2x

= 2*4

= 8m

AND

THEIR DIMENSIONS ARE 8meter by 4 meter

To find : dimensions of rectangular garden .

Given : length of garden is 2 m more than its width.

            Perimeter = 20 m

Solution :

  • According to question we are given that length of garden is 2 m more than its width and its perimeter is 20 m .
  • Let , width of garden be x and length be ( x + 2 ) m.
  • To find perimeter we use following formula -

       Perimeter of rectangular garden  = 2 ( l + b )

  • Substituting the values we get,

        20 = 2 ( x + 2 + x )\ m \\20 = 2 ( 2x + 2 )\ m \\10 = (2x + 2 )\ m\\2x = 8 \\x = 4m

  • Now , width = x = 4\ m

                  length = x + 2m = (4 + 2)m = 6\ m

Hence, length and width of rectangular garden are 6m and 4m respectively .
