The length of a line segment AB is 38 cm Apoint X on it divides it in the ratio 9:10. Find
the lengths of the line segments AX and XB.​

Solution :

Given length of the line segment

AB = 38 cm

AX : XB = 9 : 10

Let AX = 9s

XB = 10s

9s + 10s = 38

=> 19s = 38

=> s = 38/19

s = 2

Therefore ,

AX = 9s = 9 × 2 = 18 cm

XB = 10s = 10 × 2 = 20 cm
