Let the breadth of the parallelogram be x.

So,

  • Length of parallelogram = x+5

We know that,

 \odot \:  \boxed{ \sf{Perimeter _{\:Parallelogram} = 2(Length + Breadth)}}

Put the values..

 \colon \rightarrow \sf \:  \cancel{42} \: cm =  \cancel2 \{x +( x + 5) \} \\  \\  \colon \rightarrow \sf \: 21 = 2x + 5 \\  \\  \colon \rightarrow \sf \: 2x = 21 - 5 \\  \\  \colon \rightarrow \sf \:  \cancel2x =  \cancel{16} \\  \\  \colon \rightarrow \sf \:  \underline{ \boxed{ \bf{ \purple{x = 8}}}}

So,

 \mapsto \rm \: Breadth = x \: cm  \\  \\  \leadsto \:  \underline{ \boxed{ \tt{ \pink{Breadth = \bf 8 \: cm}}}}

 \mapsto \rm  \: Length = x + 5 \: cm \\  \\  \leadsto  \:  \underline{ \boxed{ \tt{ \red{Length =  \bf 13 \: cm}}}}

 \\

Sides 13 cm & 8 cm.

The length of a parallelogram is 5 cm longer than its breadth if its perimeter is 42 cm find the sides.

\\

\huge\sf\color{blue}\underline{Solution}

Given

  • Given figure is a parallelogram.
  • The length is 5cm longer that it's breadth.
  • Perimeter = 42cm

Answer

Let the breadth of the parallelogram = x

So, length of parallelogram = x+5

We know that,

Perimeter of parallelogram = 2(l+b)

=> 42cm = 2{x+(x+5)}

=> 21 = 2x + 5

=> 2x = 21-5

=> 2x = 16

=> x = \dfrac{16}{2}

=> x = 8

So,

  • Breadth=8cm
  • Length=x+5 = x +8= 13cm

Sides\;are\;13cm\;and\;8cm
