Given : the length of a pipe is 3m long.

Bala cuts the pipe into two pieces.

one of the pieces of pipe is 2 / 5 m   or   ( 2 m for every  5 m)

To Find :   the length of the other piece of pipe? Give your answer as a mixed number.

Solution:

case 1 :

One piece length = 2/ 5  m

length of a pipe is 3m long.

Another piece = 3 - 2/5  =    13/5  m

case 2  :

One piece length   = 2 m for every  5 m

length of a pipe is 3m long.

Hence one piece length  = (2/5) * 3 = 6/5 m

Another piece = 3 - 6/5  =   9/5  m
