Let breadth =b

then length, l=5cm+b

Area of rectangle = l x b

24 = (5+b) x b

24= 5b + b²

b²+5b-24=0

b²+8b-3b-24=0

b(b+8)-3(b+8)=0

(b+8)(b-3)=0

b= - 8 or b=3

breadth cannot be negative, so b= 3 cm

length = 5cm + 3 cm = 8 cm

perimeter = 2(l + b)

= 2( 8+3)

= 2 x 11

perimeter = 22 cm

Answer:

Breadth =x

length=5+x

Step-by-step explanation:

Area=24

perimeter=2(l+b)

area=l×b

l×b=24

x×5+x=24

X2+5x=24

x=3

breadth x=3

length 5+x=5+3=8

perimeter =2(3+8)

=2×11

=22
