Given :

★ The Length of the Rectangle exceed its width by 4 metre .

★ Perimeter = 40 m

To Find :

★ Its Dimensions .

Formula Used :

\sf[\:\:{Perimeter\:of\:Rectangle=2(l+b)}\:\:]

Solution :

Let :

  • Width of Rectangle = x
  • Length of Rectangle = x + 4

Now :

40 = 2 (x + 4 + x)

40 = 2 (2x + 4)

40 = 4x + 8

40 - 8 = 4x

32 = 4x

x = 32/4

x = 8

Therefore , The Value of x is 8 .

So :

Width of Rectangle = x

= 8

Length of Rectangle = x + 4

= 8 + 4

= 12

So , The Length and Breadth of the Rectangle is 12 cm and 8 cm .

Given :-

Length of a rectangle = Width + 4

Perimeter of a rectangle = 40 metre

To Find :-

Dimensions of the rectangle

Assumption :-

Let the width of the rectangle = x

Then,

Length of rectangle = x + 4

Solution :-

As we know that Perimeter = 40 m

So,

We will apply the Formula

Perimeter = 2(Length + Width)

⟹ 40 = 2(x + x + 4)

⟹ 40 = 2(2x + 4)

⟹ 40 = 4x + 8

⟹ 40 - 8 = 4x

⟹ 32 = 4x

{\frac{32}{4}} = x

⟹ 8 = x

As we know x = 8

So,

Length = x + 4 = 8 + 4 = 12 m

Width = x = 8 m

✩ Required Answer ✩

Dimensions of the rectangle are 12 metre and 8 metre.
