The length of a rectangle exceeds it's width by 4 m .if it's perimeter is 40 m find it's dimensions?

Then, length = (x+4)m

Perimeter=40m.

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(l+b)......(i)

Putting value of l and b in equation (i) we get,

⇒40=2(x+4+x)

⇒40=2(2x+4)

⇒40/2=2x+4

⇒20-4=2x

⇒16=2x

⇒x=8

Therfore, 

breadth = x = 8m

and length = x+4=8+4=12m
