The length of a rectangle exceeds it's width by 5 m. If the width is increased by 1 m and the length is decreased by 2 m the area of the new rectangle is 4 Sq. m less than the area of the original rectangle. Find the dimensions of the original rectangle.

let the original breadth be x
then length = x+5
area = x*(x+5)
now breadth = x+1
l = x+5-2 = x+3

now (x+1) (x+3) = x(x+5) -4
x^2+4x+3= x^2 + 5x-4
4x-5x = -4-3
x = 7

hence length = 12 m
breadth = 7 m
