The length of a rectangle exceeds its breadth by 9 cm. If the length and breadth
are each increased by 3 cm. the area of the new rectangle will be 84 cm' more
than that of the gluen rectangle. Find the length and breadth of the given

length =x+9

so area of initial rectangle is x square+ 9x

the other rectangle's dimensions are x+3 and x+12

given that 2nd rectangle is 84+ first rectangle

(12+x)(3+x)=84+ x square + 9x

x square+ 15x+36= 84+ x square+ 9x

15x-9x=84-36

6x=6(14-6)

x=8

so breadth is 8. length is 17
