the length of a rectangle exceeds the width by 14cm, perimeter of rectangle is 60cm, find the length and width of the rectangle?

width =x
length=x+14
p=60cm
p=2(l+b)
60=2(x+x+14)
60/2=2x+14
30=2x+14
30-14=2x
16=2x
x=8cm
w=8cm
l=22cm

Let the width be x.
Then the length = x+14
Perimeter of the rectangle = 2( l + b)
60 =2 (x + 14 + x)
60 =2(2x + 14 )
60 =4x + 28
60 -28 = 4x
32 = 4x
32/4 = x
x =8 cm

length = 8 + 14 = 22cm
breadth = 8cm
