Let the width be x m.
The length be (2x-8) m.

According to the question,
2 (x+2x-8)=56
=> 3x-8=56/2
=> 3x=28+8
=> x=36/3
=> x=12

Therefore, the width of the rectangle = 12m
the length =16m

Answer:

The answer is 12 m and 16m

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the breadth of rectangle(b) = x m

then length(l) = (2x-8) m

Now,

perimeter of rectangle = 56 m

2(l+b) = 56

2(2x-8+x) = 56

3x-8 = 28

3x =28+8

x = 36/3 = 12 m

2x-8=16m
