let say original length of rectangle = L

original Breadth of Rectangle =B

Area = L × B = A

Length increased by 10%

so new length = L + (10/100)L = 1.1L

breadth reduced by 10% so reduced breadth = B - (10/100)B = 0.9B

New Area = 1.1L × 0.9 B

new area = 0.99LB

new area = 0.99× original area

new area = 0.99A

reduced area = original area - new area

= A - 0.99A

= 0.01A

reduced area % = (0.01A/A)×100 = 1%

1% reduction in the area
