the length of a rectangle is 1 m greater than its width if the length is increased by 2 m and the width is decreased by 6 metre the area decreases by 50 m square what are the dimensions of the rectangle

legth -width=1
length =x
width=x-1
x(x-1)
x^2-x area 1st
if
x+2 and x-1-6
area =x+2(x-7)
x^2 -7x+2x-14
x^2-5x-14 area 2nd

1st area -2nd area = 50
x^2-x-x^2+5x+14=50
4x=36
x=9m
9m is lenth and 8 is width
