let the breadth be x m.
then length= x+1 m.
area = l×b
3 \frac{3}{4}  = x(x + 1) \\  \frac{15}{4}  =  {x}^{2}  + x \\ 4 {x}^{2}  + 4x - 15 = 0 \\ 4 {x}^{2}  + 10x - 6x - 15 = 0 \\ 2x(x + 5) - 3(x + 5) = 0 \\ (x + 5)(2x - 3) = 0 \\ x =  - 5 \:  \:  \:  \: or \:  \:  \:  \: x =  \frac{3}{2}  = 1.5 \\ x \: cant \: be \: negative. \\
breadth=1.5 m
length=1.5+1=2.5m

apple2877: please explain in easy way
chopraneetu: area of rectangle is length×breadth
chopraneetu: here it is given that length is 1 more than breadth
chopraneetu: so considered x and x+1

Answer:

let the breadth be x m.

then length= x+1 m.

area = l×b

\begin{gathered}3 \frac{3}{4} = x(x + 1) \\ \frac{15}{4} = {x}^{2} + x \\ 4 {x}^{2} + 4x - 15 = 0 \\ 4 {x}^{2} + 10x - 6x - 15 = 0 \\ 2x(x + 5) - 3(x + 5) = 0 \\ (x + 5)(2x - 3) = 0 \\ x = - 5 \: \: \: \: or \: \: \: \: x = \frac{3}{2} = 1.5 \\ x \: cant \: be \: negative. \\\end{gathered}
