Length of a rectangle = 12 cm

Diagonal of a rectangle = 13 cm

Consider the closed figure formed by length, breadth, diagonol.

We know in a recatangle each angle measures 90°

So, the figure which we have considered is a right- angled triangle.

In a right - angled triangle,

By Pythagorean theorem,

Hypotenuse² = Base² + Height ²

In triangle, Hypotenuse of triangle = Diagonal of the rectangle = 13 cm

Base triangle = length of the rectangle = 12 cm

Height of triangle = Breadth of rectangle

13² = 12² + Height²

169 = 144 + Height²

Height² = 169 -144

Height² = 25

Height = √25

Height = 5 cm

Height of triangle = Breadth of the rectangle = 5cm

Area of a rectangle = Length * Breadth

= 12 * 5

= 60 cm²

Therefore area of the rectangle is 60 cm²
