Answer:

GIVEN

The length of the rectangle = 12cm

The length of its diagonal = 15cm

TO FIND

The area of the rectangle

SOLUTION

length of diagonal of a rectangle = √{(length)² + (breadth)²}

d² = l²+ b² .....(squaring both the sides)

15² = 12² + b²

b² = 15² - 12²

b² = (15 + 12)(15 - 12)

b² = 27 × 3

b = √81

b = 9

area of a rectangle = length × breadth

= 12 × 9

= 108 cm²

Hence, the area of the rectangle is 108 cm².
