Given:-

  • Diagonal of a rectangle = 20 cm
  • Length of the rectangle = 16 cm

To find:-

  • Find the area of the rectangle ?

Solutions:-

  • The length of the rectangle is 16cm.
  • The diagonal of the rectangle is 20cm.

Pythagoras theorem

Hypotenuse² = base² + Perpendicular²

  • Hypotenuse = 20 cm
  • Base = 'b' cm
  • Perpendicular = 16 cm

=> (20)² = b² + 16

=> 400 = b² + 256

=> 400 - 256 = b²

=> 144 = b²

=> √144 = b

=> 12 = b

=> b = 12cm.

  • The base of the rectangle is 12 cm.

We know that,

The area of rectangle = length × breadth

  • Length = 16 cm
  • Breadth = 12 cm

According to question:-

=> 16 × 12

=> 192cm²

Hence, the area of rectangle is 192 cm².

Some Important:-

  • A = l × b
  • P = 2(l + b)

Where,

  • A = Area of rectangle
  • P = Perimeter of rectangle
  • l = Length of the rectangle
  • b = Breadth of rectangle
