Question :)

The length of a rectangle is 1cm more than its width and its perimeter is 14cm,then what is the area of the rectangle?

Solution :)

Let we width of rectangle as x and length is 1 cm more than width than length = ( x + 1 ).

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l+b)

14 = 2(x + x + 1) \\  \\   \frac{14}{2}  = 2x + 1 \\  \\ 7 - 1 = 2x \\  \\ x = 3 \: cm

Length = x + 1 = 4 cm

Width = x = 3 cm

let the width be x and length x +1

.

perimeter= 2(l+b)

14 = 2(x+x+1)

14/2 = 2x+1

7-1= 2x

x= 3 cm

.

then , length= 3+1 = 4

width= 3

.

area= l × b

=4 × 3

= 12cm^2
