Let the length and breath of a rectangle be x and y

given:-

length of rectangle is 2cm more than its breadth

x = y + 2.....(1)

perimeter of rectangle = 48cm

2(x+y) = 48

2x + 2y = 48

2(y + 2) + 2y = 48

2y + 4 + 2y = 48

4y + 4 = 48

4(y + 1) = 48

y + 1 = 48/4

y + 1 = 12

y = 12 - 1 = 11cm

y = 11cm

put the value of breadth(y) in equation (1) we get,

x = y + 2

x = 11 + 2

x = 13cm

Area of rectangle = x × y

= 11 × 13

= 143cm²

Hence, the area of rectangle is 143cm².

Answer:

143 sq. cm.

Explanation:

Given that length is 2 cm. more than breadth.

So,

let the Breadth be X.

and length be 2 + x

perimeter of the rectangle = 2(L+B)

⇒48 = 2( 2 + x + x )

⇒48 = 4 + 2x + 2x

⇒48 = 4 + 4x

⇒48 - 4 = 4x

⇒44/4 = x

⇒11 = x

Breadth = 11 ( x )

and Length = 13 ( x+2 )

So,

It's area = L × B

⇒11 × 13

⇒143 sq.
