Answer:

Let the breadth of the rectangle be x cm.

Then, length = 3x cm

New breadth =(x+5) cm

New length =(3x−3)cm

Then, (x+5)(3x−3)−3x×x=57

⇒3x

2

+12x−15−3x

=57

⇒12x=57+15=72⇒x=6

∴ Breadth  = 6 cm, Length = 18 cm

Perimeter =2(6cm+18cm)=2×24cm=48 cm

Given :

  • The length of a rectangle is 3 cm more than it breadth.

  • Perimeter of Rectangle is 34 cm.

To Find :

  • Length and Breadth of Rectangle.

Solution :

Let the Breadth of Rectangle be x.

It is Given that,

Length is 3 cm more than the breadth.

So, Length of Rectangle = x + 3 cm.

  • Perimeter of Rectangle = 2(l + b).

According to the Question,

➝ 2(x + x + 3) = 34.

➝ 2(2x + 3) = 34.

➝ 4x + 6 = 34.

➝ 4x = 34 - 6.

➝ 4x = 28.

➝ x = 28 ÷ 7.

x = 4.

Therefore, Dimensions of Rectangle :-

  • Length of Rectangle = x = 4 cm.
  • Breadth of Rectangle = x + 3 = 7 cm.
