Answer :

The length of the rectangle = 35 cm

The breadth of the rectangle = 16 cm

Step-by-step explanation :

Given :

  • The length of the rectangle is 3 cm more than twice it's breadth
  • Perimeter of the rectangle = 102 cm

To find :

  • the length and breadth of the rectangle.

Solution :

Let breadth of the rectangle be B cm

and length of the rectangle be L cm

As per the given relation between length and breadth,

  L = (2B + 3) cm

The perimeter of the rectangle = 2(length + breadth)

 102 cm = 2 (L + B)

 102/2 = L + B

 L + B = 51

2B + 3 + B = 51

 3B + 3 = 51

  3B = 51 - 3

   3B = 48

     B = 48/3

     B = 16

=> L = 2B + 3 = 2(16) + 3 = 32 + 3 = 35 cm

Therefore,

The breadth of the rectangle = 16 cm

The length of the rectangle = 35 cm

Verification :

Perimeter of the rectangle = 102 cm

 2( length + breadth ) = 102 cm

 2( 35 cm + 16 cm ) = 102 cm

 2( 51 cm ) = 102 cm

   102 cm = 102 cm

     LHS = RHS

Hence verified!
