Let Breath=x metres
Then length=(x+3)metres
Perimeter=2(l+b)
2(x+x+3)=22
2x+2x+6=22
4x+6=22
4x=22-6
4x=16
x=
 \frac{16}{4}
x=4
Breath=4metres
Length4+3=7 metres

<b> Let the width of the rectangle is x metres,

So, length of rectangle, 3 metres more than width, ( x + 3 ) metres

Given that the perimeter of the rectangle is 22 metres. We know that the perimeter of any rectangular shaped quadrilateral is 2( length + breadth ) . Comparing the condition with formula ( identity ).

= > perimeter = 2( length + breadth )

= > 22 = 2{ ( x + 3 ) + x }

= > 22 / 2 = x + 3 + x

= > 11 = 2x + 3

= > 11 - 3 = 2x

= > 8 = 2x

= > 2 × 4 = 2 × x

= > 4 = x

Hence,

Breadth of the rectangle = x metres = 4 metres

Length of the rectangle = ( x + 3 ) metres = ( 4 + 3 ) metres = 7 metres

Breadth of the rectangle is 4m.

Length of the rectangle is 7 m.
