Let width =’x’inches

Length=x+3

Perimeter=30 inches

2(l+b)=30

l+b=15

x+3+x=15

2x=12

x=6

width =6 inches

length=x+3=6+3=9 inches

Solution

» We know that :-

→ Perimeter = 2(Length + Breadth)

→ Let, length and breadth be a, also it is given that Length is more by 3, So we will add 3, to length then, we will get :-

→ Perimeter = 2(a + 3 + a)

→ P = 2(a + a + 3)

→ 30 = 2(2a + 3)

→ 30 = 4a + 6

→ 4a = 6 - 30

→ 4a = 24

→ a = \dfrac{24}{4}

→ a = 6

= Value of a = 6

= Length = a + 3 = 6 + 3 = 9

= Breadth = a = 6

Therefore, Length = 9 and Width = 6
