Question:-

  • The length of a rectangle is 30cm and its perimeter is equal to the perimeter of a square with side 24cm. Find the the breadth and area of the rectangle.

Given:-

  • length of a rectangle = 30cm
  • Side of a  square = 24 cm

To find :-

  • breadth of a rectangle = ?
  • area of a rectangle = ?

Formula's used :-

  • perimeter of square = 4 × side
  • area of rectangle = length × breadth

Solution :-

Perimeter of a  Square = 4 × side

Perimeter of a square   = 4 x 24

Perimeter of square      = 96 cm

Now, ATQ that perimeter of square is equal to rectangle.

Perimeter of  a rectangle = 96 cm

                                2(l+b) = 96

                               30 + b = 96/2

                                        b = 48 - 30

                                        b = 18 cm

therefore , breadth of a rectangle is 18 cm .

Now,

Area of a rectangle = l × b

Area of a rectangle = 30 x 18 cm²

Area of a rectangle  = 540 cm²

therefore , Area of a rectangle is  540 cm²
