Answer: Let the breadth be x.

Length=3+x

Perimeter=50cm

2*(l+b)=50

2*(x+3+x)=50

2*(3+2x)=50

6+4x=50

4x=44

x=11

Length=3+11=14cm

Breadth=11cm

Sum=14+11=25.

Answer:

  1. Let the breadth be = x
  2. Then the length = x+3
  3. Perimeter of rectangle is 50 cm
  4. Formula to find perimeter = 2( l + b )
  5. Therefore, 2 ( l + b ) =50 cm

2 ( x+3 + x ) =50

2 (2x +3 ) =50

4x + 6 = 50

. 4x = 50 - 6

4x = 44

x = 44 ÷ 4

x = 11

6. Breadth = x = 11 cm

7. Length = x + 3 = 11 + 3 = 14 cm

8. Sum of length and breadth is 11 + 14 = 25
