★ Given

Length = 3cm + breadth

Area = 180 cm²

★ To find

Length & Breadth

★ Solution

Let the breadth be x.

Length = x + 3

Area = 180 cm²

As we know,

\fbox\blue{Area~=~l~×~b}

So,

(x) × (x+3) = 180

x² + 3x = 180

x² + 3x - 180 = 0

x² + 15x - 12x - 180 = 0

x ( x+15) - 12( x+15) = 0

(x+15) (x-12) = 0

Either breadth will be 15 or -12 but -12 is negligible as measure of side can not be in negative.

So breadth = 15cm

.°. Length = 18 cm & Breadth = 15 cm
