Answer:

et the breadth of rectangle be x cm. Hence the length of rectangle is x + 4 cm.

We know Perimeter of the rectangle

= 2 (length + breadth)

= 2 (x + 4 + x)

= 2 (2x + 4)

= 4x + 8 cm.

Perimeter of rectangle = 4x + 8 cm = 40 cm

4x + 8 = 40

4x = 40 - 8

4x = 32

x = 32/4

x = 8

Thus breadth of rectangle is 8 cm. Therefore

Length of the rectangle = x + 4 = 8 + 4 = 12 cm

Answer the dimensions of rectangle are length 12 cm and breadth 8 cm.
